OverviewHutchinson offers conversion of timing (synchronous) belt drives to ribbed belt drives (Poly V and Flexonic®) to improve operational behaviour and reliability in industrial power transmission applications.
Main advantages of the conversion- Poly V and Flexonic® belts are moulded, in contrast to the typically toothed construction of timing belts.
- The regular profile and constant belt thickness provide improved contact uniformity and consistent performance.
Noise reductionThe cord construction and ribbed geometry of Poly V/Flexonic® belts enhance vibration damping and eliminate the characteristic whistling associated with synchronous (timing) belts, resulting in quieter operation.
Protection of the installationSynchronous (timing) belts do not permit slip under jam or torque spike conditions, which can transmit overload to other mechanical components. Ribbed belts tolerate controlled transient slippage; their geometry allows limited slipping under excessive torque, reducing stress on the transmission and protecting the overall installation.
Applications- Food processors (beater mixers)
- Food processing pumps
- Gas-engine forklifts
Technical characteristics / specifications- Conversion available from timing (synchronous) belt transmission to ribbed belt transmission (Poly V, Flexonic®).
- Poly V and Flexonic® belts are moulded versus typically toothed construction for timing belts.
- Regular belt profile and constant thickness ensure uniform contact and consistent power transmission.
- Cord and rib geometry improve vibration absorption and significantly reduce timing-belt whistling noise.
- Ribbed belt geometry permits transient slippage to protect the transmission during torque spikes.
- Suitable for a wide range of industrial applications including food processing and material handling.
