Description

Overview
With simple, twist-on consumable installation and convenient power and amperage adjustment controls on handheld models, SmartSYNC® torches for Hypertherm’s Powermax45/65/85/105 SYNC plasma systems and Powermax45 XP (with adapter) allow the operator to change consumables and applications without returning to the power supply. This reduces consumable change time to about 10 seconds and the cartridge automatically sets the system for the cartridge, minimizing downtime, troubleshooting, waste and training time.

Applications
  • Drag cutting (for dragging the torch directly across the work piece)
  • Extended reach cutting
  • Extended reach gouging (improved visibility and access in confined spaces)
  • Mechanized cutting (portable automation and table cutting)
  • Robotic cutting and integration with light robot arms

Benefits
  • Handheld use: On-the-fly amperage adjustment and consumable changes without returning to the power supply; 75° and 15° hand torches suited to gouging, fine feature cutting, extended reach cutting and flush cutting; 15° directs heat away from operator for heavy gouging/overhead work.
  • Machine use: Cartridges automatically set correct amperage and mode; full-length and mini-machine torches for a variety of CNC cutting tables, track cutters and pipe cutters.
  • Robotic use: Lightweight, compact robotic/mini torches with positioning features; optional clamps and teach tools for faster integration.
  • Extended reach: Long torches available in two lengths (0.6 m / 1.2 m) and two head angles (45° and 90°) for skeleton cutting, scraping and demolition; require ~45% less lifting force than previous-generation long torches.

Hypertherm cartridge platform (description)
The Hypertherm cartridge consumable platform is a single-piece cartridge optimized by process and amperage to simplify parts and ensure performance across cutting and gouging processes. Cartridges are factory test-fired; minor burn marks on tips are normal and not damage.

Notes on cartridges and usage
Cartridges have different exterior dimensions from traditional consumables; these dimensions should be considered when using cutting templates and guides. Mechanized cartridges can be used on hand torches when a stand-off is desired.
