In the Ensenso CR series cameras, the 3D data processing of up to 16 high-resolution image pairs takes place directly in the camera's FPGA.
Thanks to the high degree of parallelisation of the processing steps, the stereo image data from the two sensors can be processed at a high frame rate. The quality of the generated 3D data increases with the image resolution and each image pair, without any additional time delay due to the data transfer to the host PC.
The 3D camera system is therefore particularly suitable for computationally intensive applications such as bin picking or in-line measurements. As the camera calculates the 3D data itself, it is no longer necessary to use a powerful industrial PC. The transmission of 3D result data instead of 2D raw data also means that the network is under considerably less strain.
With a bright pattern projector and compact housing, several variants of the optical system with different baselines (distance of the stereo cameras: S: 240 mm, M: 455 mm, L: 850 mm) and focal lengths are available for alternative application scenarios, customised and ‘ready to use’.
In all CR series models, two 5 MP mono sensors (2472 x 2064 pixels) ensure high stereo resolution and an RBG sensor with 8 MP provides the necessary colour information in applications with large working distances of up to 5 metres or volumes of up to 8 cubic metres. An additional fully integrated, diffuse front LED provides colour-neutral light to support 2D colour images.
As always, the Ensenso camera selector supports you in selecting a suitable model for your application by entering your working conditions in the online configurator.
