Product overview- Passive Purple Preparation Pack contains the accessories required to prepare substrates before applying a liquid airtight vapour control coating, ensuring correct adhesion and continuous airtightness at junctions.
- Kit includes membranes, tapes and compatible sealants for complete airtight connections at critical junctions.
What is Passive Purple and how to use it?- Passive Purple is an Intelligent liquid airtight vapour control membrane applied with an airless spray device to the warm side of the insulation across the external envelope (floors, walls, roofs, joists), including difficult connection areas.
- When used on the warm side, Passive Purple may be applied to either face of the external envelope to form a vapour control layer.
- Before application ensure surfaces are solid, dust-free and closed (all holes and joints sealed).
- Large holes and joints (>5 mm): seal using fast-setting cementitious products or polyurethane foam.
- Small holes and joints (2–5 mm): seal using Passive Purple Liquid Brush (thicker brush-applied version).
- After preparation, Passive Purple can be spray-applied with an airless machine; a single installer can apply up to 300 m² per day.
- For smaller projects, Passive Purple Brush (brush-applied) or roller-applied versions are available where airless spraying is not practical.
- Ensure airtight continuity at wall-to-ceiling and at junctions between different construction materials (brick to concrete, steel to concrete, etc.).
- Passive Purple reduces the risk of small finish cracks caused by differential movement of materials, helping prevent air leakage, energy loss, damp and mould.
Why choose Passive Purple?- BBA certified & Passivhaus certified: Passive Purple is a fully BBA certified Liquid Airtight Vapour Control Layer and a certified Passivhaus component.
- Radon barrier: provides effective protection against radon gas ingress when specified.
- High productivity: up to 300 m² coverage per day for a single installer using airless spray.
- M1 class, VOC free: water-based formulation with very low emissions.
- Fire classification: Fire Class C.
- Exceptional airtightness: Passivhaus certified test result 0.03 ACH; supports achieving ≤ 0.6 ACH for building targets.
