Description

Overview
Automatic H-frame (closed-frame) stone splitting equipment is grouped under the PXA category. PXA machines can reach very large widths (up to 3 m) for automated splitting of granite palisades and large blocks. Production lines may combine one or more H-frame machines with 90° conveyor connections to produce multiple finished sizes such as curbs, cobblestones and paving stones, depending on throughput and investment level.

Design and Blade Configuration
Closed-frame machines can be supplied in a 4-blade configuration: upper, lower and two side blades. A hydraulic system transmits simultaneous power to all blades, applying splitting force around the block perimeter. Side blades reduce concave/convex splitting defects often seen on taller pieces.

P4 Series Specifics
The P4 series is engineered for materials with specific characteristics—sandstone, travertine, limestone and stratified stones (e.g. gneiss, serizzo)—and for classical materials such as granite. P4 machines are used in veneer markets where minimal split thickness is required. Depending on the material, P4 units can be fitted with fixed blades or adjustable/replaceable teeth.

Integration and Automation
For each application MEC evaluates block dimensions, material type and required throughput to define the appropriate feeding system and automation level. Machines can be equipped with transport, alignment and control solutions to optimise product quality and plant productivity.
