Description

Description
The NDIRsim app is a browser-based simulation tool for the development and optimization of NDIR sensors. No installation or administrator rights are required. Based on the Beer–Lambert law and the HITRAN database, the app enables realistic modelling of gases and real conditions such as pressure and temperature.

Features
  • Browser-based simulation for NDIR gas measurement
  • Physical model based on the Beer–Lambert law
  • Use of the HITRAN database as scientific reference
  • Direct calculation of absorption, filter overlay and characteristic curves
  • Platform independent (Chrome, Edge, Firefox — no additional software required)

Spectrum simulation details
Wavelength or wavenumber ranges can be selected and resolution defined via sampling points depending on the need for fast calculations or high-resolution spectral analysis. Filter parameters such as CWL (or alternatively CWN), HBW and transmission can be applied directly to the calculated line spectrum and evaluated immediately. Visual checks allow verification of optimal filter bandwidth, sufficient baseline on both sides of the target absorption band and potential interfering gases.

Measurement conditions simulation
NDIRsim simulates path lengths and concentration ranges to determine absorption curves and calibration points. Absorption (%) is presented as a function of concentration to support targeted optimization of the measurement range. Predefined Micro‑Hybrid standard IR filters are available for a quick start. For sensor design studies the app allows definition of the maximum target gas concentration in vol.% and conversion of common ppm values using a reference formula.

Note
A comprehensive tutorial for the app (NDIRsim Tutorial) is available as a video.
