Nexera - The Only No Compromise UHPLC System
UHPLC systems represent the latest development in liquid chromatography instrumentation. Beside enhancements necessary to operate with sub 2 µm particle columns, they differ from each other through their versatility in handling various applications on the same instrument without any changes.
Shimadzu's new LC-30A Nexera is unsurpassed in high-speed and high-resolution analysis and productivity. It meets the needs of the most demanding markets such as pharmaceutical and the food industry.
Nexera pumps offer a flow range from 0.0001 ml/min up to 3ml/min with 130 MPa pressure and from 3.0001 up to 5 ml/min with 80 MPa pressure. This allows the use of longer columns for covering fast LC with high flow rates and short columns as well as highest resolution using long columns.
The new developed micro-reactor based mixer supports a small system volume and very short gradient delays. The Nexera autosampler provides reduced carryover compared to the previous instruments by keeping the direct injection with isolated metering system principle using 3 rinse solvents, various rinsing modes and design changes at needle and needle seal. To increase the throughput overlapping pre-treatment can be used. The pre-treatment capabilities expand the application range of this instrument.
LC-30A Nexera can be used for semi-micro, conventional and UHPLC methods without changes on the flowline. It fulfils the demands of an all-round LC system with high reliability and robustness.

Ultra Fast Liquid Chromatograph
In Pursuit of Higher Speed and Uncompromised Separation
The goal of high-speed HPLC is to enhance the laboratory’s productivity. We believe that analytical data obtained from high-speed HPLC must be as reliable as the data from conventional HPLC. For example, resolution must be maintained at an excellent level in the case of 10,000 analytical runs by high-speed LC, retention time and area repeatability must be excellent for small volume sample injection, the need for replacement parts should be minimized, and the instrument must work stably.
We successfully achieved speed and separation performance levels that do not depend on high pressure, while simultaneously offering a high level of precision and expandability not available with previous fast LC systems.
The combination of Prominence UFLC and new reversed-phase columns achieves ten times higher speed compared to a conventional HPLC system. Furthermore, a high-speed sample injection mechanism significantly reduces total analytical cycle time. With this combination, Prominence UFLC offers three times higher resolution than conventional HPLC so that the possibility of analysis is increased for samples that are not sufficiently separated by conventional HPLC.
The high-precision solvent delivery unit and autosampler improve repeatability in small volume sample injections for high-speed LC, achieving and maintaining excellent repeatability during long endurance tests.

Apple’s iPod is nice to have, Metrohm’s new EPOD is a must-have – if you do ion chromatography but want to spare yourself the tedious manual preparation of the eluent.
By using the 800 Dosino and the 849 Level Control as the only additional devices, Metrohm’s intelligent ion chromatography (IC) systems can be easily extended to perform any unattended inline eluent preparation. Fully controlled by MagIC Net, the 849 Level Control monitors the eluent level while the 800 Dosino performs all dosing and liquid handling tasks.
The Dosino automatically dilutes a concentrate with ultrapure water and subsequently transfers it to the eluent bottle. With a dilution factor of 20, a two-liter bottle of concentrated eluent translates into an unattended running time of a whole month. Is it reliable? Yes, in a test, consecutive injections of a 250 µg/L muli-anion standard over a 21-day period revealed an outstanding retention-time stability.
