The equipment is specifically and fundamentally designed as failsafe, with extensive system and fault status monitoring for maximum availability at all times.
In addition to General Paging and Emergency Broadcasts, Alarms can be automatically initiated, e.g. from Fire and Gas Alarm and Emergency Shut Down Systems. Alarm tones or pre-recorded digital voice evacuation messages can be broadcast.

Introduction
Moxa's IKS-6726 is the industrial-grade rackmount Ethernet switches, which are specially designed to run demanding industrial harsh environment. PROFIBUS DP Redundancy Switch – The optimal solution for a safe PROFIBUS DP Master redundancy concept PRS provides switch over of the PROFIBUS line between two identical DP Masters. This avoids any galvanic contact between the DP Masters, they can therefore be configured with identical PROFIBUS addresses, making Multi Master mode unnecessary and excludes double address conflict.
PRS is a compact 24 Volt hat rail module containing the switching logic as well as an intelligent double DP Slave. The device allows the connection of two DP Masters and the PROFIBUS connection to the DP Slaves. The Switch controls the status of the operational DP Master system on the PROFIBUS protocol and application level.
In case of failure of the operational Master PRS physically switches over to the stand-by Master, which seamlessly takes over the DP Slaves.
In contrast to the established Flying Master principle a double address conflict cannot occur with PRS, even if the failed DP Master is still active on the PROFIBUS level.
PRS provides the DP Masters with important information about the redundancy operation, i.e. the alive state of the complementary system, it also allows the execution of a switch-over command. The device can be used in very complex redundancy systems, i.e. in connection with PROFIBUS OPC servers or overlying Ethernet based cell networks. Furthermore PRS can be controlled via both integrated Ethernet connections if direct control via the PROFIBUS is not possible.
There is no single point of failure with the PRS because if the device does develop a fault the Master to Slave communication would continue without interrupted.

Symmetricom's 56000 is a versatile Data Rate Clock (DRC) and Distribution System supporting an extensive variety of input references, oscillators, output frequencies, input/output interface styles, powerful network based management tools, and complete power supply plans. The modular architecture supports various clock rates and frequencies required in today's sophisticated communications applications.
The 56000 backplane can accept 1, or 10 MHz; IRIG B time code; and any TTL signal from DC to 10Mbps. Multiple redundant external frequency references can be applied to a hitless switch (passive combiner) located on each frequency synthesizer circuit card. The hitless switch provides a glitch-free transition from one input source to another, ensuring reliable and disturbance-free outputs, even in the event of failure of one of the input sources. The frequency reference inputs can be replaced or enhanced by an on-board oscillator circuit card or an on-board GPS timing receiver. The oscillators are disciplined to either the input frequency or GPS. Using the oscillators in combination with external reference inputs provides various levels of redundancy. The oscillators also add holdover capability so that uninterrupted operation is maintained in the event of total failure of the reference input(s).
