A range from 0.05 to 250 m water
These sensors are used to measure liquid levels for applications such as:
- filling tanks
- check of water table levels
Our sensors can be equipped with configurable recording systems. Their very low power consumption design enables several years autonomy.
Their internal memory allowe to record 500 000 values. |

Extremely short microwave impulses with low emitted power in the C-band and K-band frequency range are emitted by the antenna system to the measured product, reflected by the product surface and received again by the antenna system. They spread with light velocity and the time from the emission to receipt of the signals is proportional to the level in the vessel. A special time spreading procedure enables a reliable and precise measurement of extremely short time periods.
By simply entering the vessel dimensions, a level-proportional signal can be displayed. An adjustment with emptied and filled vessel is no longer necessary!
The spreading of microwaves is virtually not affected by the ambient temperature and ambient pressure. Radar sensors are ideal for use under arduous process conditions. Pressures from vacuum to 160 bar and temperatures between -40 and 400°C are no problem for a radar level measurement.
Fluctuating product compositions or complete changes of the product do not influence the measurement result. A new adjustment is not necessary. |
|
For measuring ranges up to 70 m, VEGA now has an optimised radar technology in its program. Due to its increased receiver sensitivity (factor 40), VEGAPULS 68 delivers reliable measured values in spite of higher signal damping in solids.
Non-contacting radar measurement delivers reliable levels in dusty environments, like in storage facilities for building materials. Also in the food processing industry, in steel production as well as for level measurement of powders and granulates in the chemical industry, the extended measuring range has proven to be extremely effective. Adjustable fl anges allow the eduction of false refl ections and the optimisation of the useful echo.
All advantages in an overview
- non-contact measurement
- unaffected by dust generation
- not infl uenced by fi lling noise
- high dynamic range of the sensor
- measuring range up to 70 m
- antenna cleaning by cooling air
- dust-Ex approval |

Ultrasound level sensor SIMATIC PXS
Recording of fill levels from a distance of 3 cm to 10 m
Our sonar proximity switches sense objects of varying materials, shapes, colors or consistencies with absolute precision, flexibility and reliability.
The ultrasound level sensor is proper for level applications in containers due to its design and its technical constructions. The devices feature two switching outputs to which different distances can be assigned. This allows, for example, the minimum and maximum fill level in a tank to be evaluated. Regardless whether the objects are liquid, solid, powdery or even transparent. |
|
Short ultrasonic pulses between 10 kHz and 70 kHz are emitted by the transducer. These pulses are reflected by the product surface and received again by the transducer. They spread with sound velocity and the time from emission to receipt of the signals is proportional to the level in the vessel.
Latest microprocessor technology and proven ECHOFOX® software select the level echo from a number of false reflections and measure it exactly.
Just by entering the vessel dimensions, a level-proportional signal can be displayed. An adjustment with emptied and filled vessel is no longer necessary!
Thanks to different emitting frequencies, levels can be detected in a measuring range between 4 m and 70 m. Optional swivelling holders enable an ideal positioning of the sensors in the solid area.
Fluctuations of the product compositions or complete product changes do not influence the measurement results. A new adjustment is not necessary.
Advantages
- Non-contact
- Independent of product characteristics
Applications
- Level measurement of solids and liquids
- Good chemical resistance |

With our new Laser-Distance Sensors DLS-B you measure absolute distances up to 500 meters. Thanks to state of the art laser technology the DLS-B device measures with a precision of 1.5 millimeters. It represents a cost efficient solution even at extreme environment temperatures as low as -40° C.
The DLS-B is an optical measuring device. You can measure, maintenance-free, distances on natural and reflective surfaces. You determine positions on objects difficult to access or with very high surface temperatures. Just as well you can measure distances in an aggressive environment in an easy and accurate way.
Serial, analog and digital interfaces are standard features for the complete DLS-B product line. This enables you to easily connect the DLS-B to a control system (SPS, IPC or PC)
The DLS-B device runs in a “Stand-alone-mode” and independently executes all programmed functions. Thanks to the flexible range of functions an external display can be connected directly to the DLS-B device via interface RS232 or RS422. Via a digital input, measurements can also be activated from an external button or switch.
For easy configuration of the DLS-B devices, the necessary software is at your disposal |

| Pulsar's innovative dB range of transducers has taken ultrasonic level measurement into a new era. Unlike the high voltage, frequency dependent transducers of other manufacturers, which require special, protected interconnect cables, or low powered transducers built with intrinsic safety rather than performance in mind, the dB series combines low electrical power that meets intrinsic safety requirements with extraordinary high sonic power to give range and performance. |
