Reach trucks used in a warehouse or storage industries, are used to retrieve, insert and transport pallets, to and from their storage racks. The trucks contain frontal forks, which are attached to the mast, where the pallet will be placed. The trucks can contain telescopic forks which can access deeper into the shelving. They are battery powered electric trucks.
Used generally in warehouse environments the reach trucks place and retrieve pallets onto and from storage racks. With varying sizes the trucks can be used for narrow aisle access. The telescopic forks allow for further reach in deep storage racks.
The basic reach truck has frontal forks mounted on a hydraulically operated mast to place pallets on a standard one pallet storage rack. There are also trucks available with telescopic forks which allow placement of pallets on a two pallet storage rack without need to push front pallet.
The operator can have a choice of set-up: sit-on, stand-on or pedestrian. The controls are located on the control panel or tiller arm, depending on the set-up.
The trucks are selected depending on three principal factors: maximum loads, plus the height and depth of storage racks.
