A variable area flow meter measures fluid flow rate in a closed tube.
ApplicationsThe simple structure of these devices make them common in numerous branches of industry. They are found in laboratories, as well as in water treatment plants and in chemical industry facilities.
TechnologiesSuch instruments consist of a tapered tube containing a float. The fluid rises in the tube, lifting the float, whose level depends on the mass flow. The flow rate is read directly on a scale suitable for the fluid in question.
How to chooseChoice will depend on the fluid to be measured, since each meter is calibrated for a particular fluid. Tube diameter, connectors and required accuracy also should be taken into account.
