An electromagnetic flow meter can measure the flow volume of electrically conductive liquids such as water, pulp, slurries and emulsions.
ApplicationsThe proper operation of such devices requires a conductivity level of at least three microsiemens (µS) per centimeter. Lack of moving parts makes these meters ideal for use with dirty liquids, including waste water.
TechnologiesFunction is based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. The liquid must flow through a pipe made of or lined with a non-magnetic material. The magnetic field applied from the exterior of the conduit induces a voltage across electrodes placed perpendicular to the field and fluid flow. The voltage is proportional to flow velocity.
