Description

Overview
The RS Series consists of multiple high power AC and DC power systems that provide controlled AC and DC output for ATE and product test applications. This high power AC and DC test system covers a wide spectrum of AC and DC power applications. Using state-of-the-art PWM switching techniques, the RS Series combines compactness, robustness and functionality in a compact floor-standing chassis. The RS units include casters for mobility and are designed for straightforward installation and operation.

Operation and Control
The RS Series can be operated from its menu-driven front panel controller with a backlit LCD display showing menus, setup data, and read-back measurements. Remote control interfaces available include IEEE-488, RS232C, USB and optional LAN. Instrument drivers and programming support (SCPI) are provided for integration into automated test systems. The programmable controller version offers arbitrary waveform generation, time and frequency domain measurements, and voltage and current waveform capture.

Power Configurations
The RS90 delivers output up to 90 kVA in AC mode and 65% of rated power in DC and AC+DC mode. Higher power models include RS180, RS270, RS360, RS450 and RS540. Reconfigurable RS models (MB designation) provide multiple controllers allowing separation of the high power system into multiple individual RS90 units for separate applications, offering significant flexibility.

Capabilities
The RS Series supports regenerative bidirectional operation, allowing the system to both source and sink current and to regenerate power back to the utility when operating in sink mode. The AC output frequency range supports avionics applications (up to 819 Hz standard, higher with options). The system is suitable for regulatory compliance testing (examples include IEC 61000 series) and provides built-in output transient generation and read-back measurement capability.

Waveform and Measurement Features
Arbitrary and harmonic waveform generation is supported through the GUI or remote interfaces. The programmable controller can define harmonic waveforms (amplitude and phase for up to 50 harmonics) and store up to 200 waveforms in non-volatile memory. Measurement and analysis functions include real-time digitization of voltage and current waveforms (4K deep sample buffer), harmonic analysis (up to 50 harmonics, up to 16 kHz), and conventional measurements such as frequency, Vrms, Irms, Ipk, Crest Factor, Real Power (Watts), Apparent Power (VA) and Power Factor.

Software and Remote Tools
Windows® application software is available to provide GUI control and access to the RS Series capabilities. Functions available via the GUI include steady state output control, creation and execution of transient programs, generation and saving of harmonic and arbitrary waveforms, measurement logging, waveform capture and display, and monitoring of bus traffic for development and debugging of remote control programs.

End-of-Life (EOL) Notice
The RS Series end-of-life (EOL) was announced on March 31, 2023, with Last Time Buy until September 29, 2023. Replacement product families were identified for migration from RS models to newer series depending on model/configuration.
