To ensure accurate surge protection all the connections must be perfect. If not, it is not possible to detect them leading to the destruction of sensitive protectors and components and finally, the equipment itself. To ensure the protectors are working well, they must be separated by at least a ten-meter cable. If that is not possible, then install a decoupling inductor between the protection stages. This is where an ATBARRIER box comes in. It contains all the necessary components needed for co-ordinated surge protection. The box has to be configured in series with the Low Voltage line, and connected to line/s, neutral and ground. The fuses and circuit breakers must be upstream, and it will be disconnected during working to ensure further protection. If the protection is not there, then the fuses must be configured in the box itself.
