Product informationMETPOINT®️ OCV compact measurement section — oil vapor measurement section for continuous monitoring of residual oil vapor in compressed air. The METPOINT®️ OCV compact records measured values with a floating average over defined time windows to automatically eliminate isolated outliers and provide meaningful results.
Function and benefits- Online monitoring of oil vapor concentration (measured value in mg/m³) and classification according to ISO 8573 oil classes.
- Measurement principle: temperature- and pressure-compensated photoionization detector (PID) for accuracy and reproducibility.
- Internal reference gas generation by an integrated catalytic converter for zero checks and self-monitoring of the measuring chamber.
- Automatic monitoring of reference gas and sensor electronics with reliable alarm generation and transmission.
- Operating pressure range: 3 … 16 bar (depends on variant).
- Standard data transmission to display and control room via common communication methods.
- Clear visualization of all measured values, flexible installation options, industrial-grade housing.
AveragingThe composition of compressed air rarely changes except in case of incidents. Continuous monitoring must therefore reliably indicate gradual deterioration or sudden failure of a purification stage. Short-term peak recordings can appear; the METPOINT®️ OCV compact provides measured-value recording with a floating average over defined time windows to automatically eliminate individual outliers.
Sampling (measurement section)For detection of hydrocarbons at trace levels (ISO 8573 oil class 1, < 0.010 mg/m³ = 10 µg/m³) sampling technique is critical. The sample must be taken where a representative mixture of all compressed air components is present. With homogeneous distribution across the pipe cross-section, gas can be extracted at a fixed point approximately at the pipe center.

Operating notes- Measurements are temperature- and pressure-compensated to ensure conformity and reproducibility.
- Sampling requires a representative extraction point, ideally at the pipe center if flow distribution is homogeneous.
- The internal reference-gas generator periodically cleans the measuring chamber and verifies the zero point to enable extended self-monitoring.
