Product information
METPOINT®️ OCV compact — oil vapour measuring instrument for compressed air systems. Continuous on‑line monitoring detects hydrocarbon vapours and gases with a detection limit down to 0.001 mg/m³. Short measurement intervals provide fast indication of small deviations, enabling documentation of compressed air quality and identification of contamination sources.

Function of oil vapour measuring
The OCV compact uses a PID photo‑ionisation detector (UV lamp). Measured values are temperature‑ and pressure‑compensated to meet ISO 8573 requirements. Continuous self‑control is achieved by alternating measurement air with a generated reference gas, ensuring reproducible and reliable readings.

Internal reference gas generation
Integrated reference gas generation
An integrated patented catalytic converter generates reference gas by decomposing hydrocarbons to H2O and CO2 on a heated catalyst surface. This reference gas is routed alternately with the compressed air sample into the measuring chamber to clean the chamber and check the zero point for long‑term accuracy.

Measured value: residual oil content in mg oil/normal m³ (1.0 bar, +20 °C, 0 % RH) according to ISO 8573‑1.
Detectable substances: polyalphaolefins, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, functional hydrocarbons.
Measuring range: ≤ 0.01 … 2.50 mg/m³; detection limit 0.001 mg/m³. New measured value every 4 seconds. Calibrated range ≤ 0.01 … 1.25 mg/m³ (ISO 8573‑1).
