OverviewThe Crest WSL is the high-precision slitter rewinder & laminator for specialty foams and films. Custom-built for tension-sensitive converters executing complex single-pass and multi-pass laminating workflows. It integrates pneumatic circular slitting, loop-controlled center winding and an optional inline lamination station to enable slitting, rewinding and lamination in one platform without material deformation or telescoping.
Key capabilities- Pneumatic circular slitting for accurate, clean edges and rapid knife changeover
- Loop-controlled center winding to prevent telescoping and maintain uniform roll density
- Optional inline Corona surface activation for improved adhesive anchoring
- Dual-roller nip lamination to eliminate micro-air inclusions and ensure homogeneous composite quality
- Heavy-duty platform capable of handling jumbo master rolls
Applications- Deformation-free master roll converting of advanced foams and compressible substrates
- High-precision slitting for industrial converters requiring burr-free, adhesive-bleed-free edges
- Multi-pass lamination workflows (e.g., foam activation + backing application) on a single platform
One platform — dual-pass workflowPASS 1: Foam Activation & Adhesive CoatingThe raw specialty foam is unwound and passed through the Corona Treatment Unit to activate its surface, then a high-tack adhesive layer is laminated under precise nip pressure to guarantee a strong bond.
PASS 2: Plastic Backing ApplicationThe laminated adhesive foam from Pass 1 is fed back into the line; the machine applies the plastic backing film (Corona off) and simultaneously uses pneumatic circular knives to slit the final laminate to customer widths.
Suitable materials- Technical foam laminates (examples: ProBAK®, Softprint®, Cushion-Mount™)
- Flexographic backing & compressible foams
- Polyester (PET) and PVC plastic backing films
- High-tack self-adhesive laminates
- Protective films and release liners
Best suited for- Converters of delicate, compressible foams requiring exact tension control to avoid structural deformation
- Operations needing 100% bubble-free lamination with dual-roller nip sets
- Producers processing jumbo rolls (large diameter and high weight) demanding robust center winding and loop control
- High-volume converters seeking to minimize scrap and maximize yield
- Lines requiring rapid, toolless changeovers between 3" and 6" cores
Why it performs- Maximized yield and minimized scrap via pneumatic knives and responsive loop tension
- Zero-defect composite quality through stable center winding and dual-roller lamination
- Heavy-duty uptime with operator-friendly knife positioning and fast changeovers
FAQ highlights- The WSL is an industrial slitter rewinder and laminator designed for high-precision conversion of flexible materials, technical films and specialty foams.
- Supported slitting: pneumatic circular knives (crush-cut) driven by controlled air pressure for burr-free edges, configurable with or without overlap.
- Integrated laminator option: enables lamination, slitting and rewinding in a single workflow to reduce handling and scrap.
- The platform processes tension-sensitive, compressible and high-value materials and is robust enough for jumbo master rolls.
- Warranty: a 5-year warranty applies when a service agreement is in place.
