Product Overview
The BBPXST-5X5X10 is an epoxy-bonded multilayer piezo stack actuator assembled from piezoelectric ceramic layers. The 5.0 x 5.0 x 10.0 mm stack provides a nominal displacement of 10.0 µm ± 15% (0–150 V) and a blocking force of 1000 N. Red lead = positive; black lead = negative (ground negative lead).

Measurement Conditions
  • All data measured at room temperature (25 °C).
  • Measured displacement may vary with load.
  • Displacement vs. voltage curve measured under 9 N load at 20 °C; increasing and decreasing traces show hysteresis.
  • Temperature-rise test used 0–150 V sinusoidal drive; temperature recorded after 10 minutes at the specified frequency.

Wiring and Soldering
  • Connect red lead to positive; ground the black negative lead. Reversed polarity may cause mechanical failure.
  • If reconnecting a lead, solder temperature should not exceed 370 °C (700 °F) and contact time per solder point should be ≤ 2 seconds.
  • Solder at the center of the electrode and keep solder joints as small as possible.

Installation and Mechanical Loading
  • An external compressive preload is recommended.
  • Apply load at the center of the stack mounting area or distribute evenly across the mounting surface.
  • Both contact surfaces must be highly flat and smooth.
  • The stack withstands axial force only; shear or torsional loads can cause mechanical failure.

Storage and Operating Environment
  • Store below 80 °C and relative humidity below 50%.
  • Do not immerse the stack in organic solvents.
  • Do not use or store near flammable gases or liquids.
