Product overview
The Zahn Flow Cup Model 343 is an aluminium dip‑flow cup for rapid determination of the viscosity of a wide range of fluids (paints, varnishes, printing inks, oils, foodstuffs, etc.) by measuring efflux time. Suitable for workshop and laboratory use and designed in accordance with ASTM D 4212.


Measuring principle
The viscosity is expressed as the efflux time of a defined volume (100 ml) flowing out of the cup through an orifice of specified diameter. The efflux time is measured with a stopwatch and used to compare or control fluid viscosity levels.


Test procedure
The cup is fully immersed and filled with the test substance, then lifted vertically and the stopwatch started immediately. Record the time in seconds until the orifice is visible from above (complete emptying). Maintain the cup in a vertical position throughout the test and repeat as required for reproducibility.
