Description

Overview
This high-solids clarifier is designed with a lamella-style (inclined-plate) settler for efficient removal of insoluble contaminants from industrial wastewater.

Product description
The Memclean HS high-solids clarifier flocculates and settles insoluble contaminants present in a wastewater stream. The unit uses a lamella-style settler with wide plate spacing to handle high solids loads, up to 1,500 parts per million (ppm) total suspended solids (TSS). It can be supplied as a stand-alone unit or integrated with other wastewater equipment such as chemical reaction tanks or filter presses.

For units rated ≤100 gallons per minute (gpm), the Memclean HS includes a rapid mix compartment, a polymer flocculation section and the lamella clarifier. The rapid mix chamber is supplied with a mixer for quick polymer dispersion. The flocculation section features an electrically driven, variable-speed slow mixer to promote optimal floc growth. The lamella clarifier is equipped with an air-operated diaphragm pump for periodic removal of settled solids. For units rated ≥150 gpm, the rapid mix and flocculation tanks may be optional depending on application requirements.

Polymer from an optional chemical make-up tank is dosed into the rapid mix chamber. From there, wastewater gravity-flows to the slow mix chamber where polymer-assisted flocculation occurs. After flocculation, the flow passes through the inclined plate settler, separating insoluble contaminants from the clear supernatant.

The clarified supernatant discharges by gravity. Settled solids are periodically removed from the clarifier bottom via the air-operated diaphragm pump. Construction is carbon steel with polypropylene separator packs.

Features
  • Lamella (inclined-plate) settler with wide plate spacing for high solids handling
  • Handles high solids removal — up to 1,500 ppm total suspended solids (TSS)
  • Rapid mix compartment with mixer for polymer addition (standard on ≤100 gpm units)
  • Polymer flocculation section with electrically driven variable-speed slow mixer
  • Air-operated diaphragm pump for periodic settled solids removal
  • Optional chemical make-up (polymer) tank
  • Supernatant discharges by gravity
  • Manufactured from carbon steel with polypropylene separator packs
  • Can be supplied as stand-alone or integrated with reaction tanks, filter presses and other wastewater equipment
  • PLC control requiring less than 2 hours per day of operator attention
  • Shop-fabricated components can enable project completion in as little as 16–18 weeks
  • Guaranteed effluent quality with metal concentrations <2 ppm and TSS <15 ppm

Typical operation / configurations
Units ≤100 gpm: include rapid mix, slow mix (flocculation) and lamella clarifier as standard. Units ≥150 gpm: rapid mix and flocculation tanks are optional depending on site and application requirements.

Technical specifications
  • Maximum TSS handling: up to 1,500 ppm
  • Flow rating notes: different internal configuration for ≤100 gpm vs ≥150 gpm
  • Materials of construction: carbon steel body; polypropylene separator packs
  • Mixing: rapid mix tank with mixer; electrically driven variable-speed slow mixer for flocculation
  • Solids removal: periodic removal via air-operated diaphragm pump
  • Chemical feed: polymer dosing from optional chemical make-up tank
  • Effluent guarantees: metal concentrations <2 ppm; TSS <15 ppm
  • Control: PLC control (low operator attention)
  • Integration: designed to integrate with reaction tanks, filter presses and other wastewater equipment
  • Lead time: shop-fabricated components can enable project completion in ~16–18 weeks
