OverviewEvoqua offers three rental Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) units in different sizes designed to remove total suspended solids (TSS), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), and fats, oils and greases (FOG) from industrial and municipal wastewater streams. RT Rental DAF systems use a dissolved air-in-water recycle stream to create micron-sized bubbles that attach to contaminants; bubbles and contaminants rise to the surface for removal by a skimmer while heavier solids are removed by a bottom auger.
Common applications- Product recovery and reuse
- Pretreatment to meet sewer discharge limits
- Pretreatment to reduce loading on downstream biological treatment systems
- Polishing of biological treatment effluent
- Thickening of biosolids
How it worksA recycle stream of clarified DAF effluent is pressurized with air, then combined and mixed with incoming wastewater in an internal contact zone. As the dissolved air comes out of solution it forms micron-sized bubbles that attach to solids and other contaminants. The bubble-contaminant agglomerates float to the surface and form a floating bed that is removed by a surface skimmer into an internal float hopper for handling. Heavier solids settle and are conveyed by a bottom auger to a settled solids discharge.
