General descriptionGlass Service manufactures a precise, customizable venturi mixer designed to control the air/gas ratio for industrial burner applications. The unit consists of a machined cast-iron shell with a tailor-made venturi insert calibrated to specification. The Venturi effect combined with a regulator pin enables gas to be entrained by airflow and mixed before delivery to the burner. Initial air/fuel ratio adjustment is performed via the integrated valve.
Mixer features- Low pressure loss
- Multiple size combinations (DN40–DN80)
- Flange connection for inspection, cleaning and capacity regulation
- Compact, reversible and orientation-free design
- Solid cast-iron construction for operational reliability
- Built-in gas adjustment valve
- Interchangeable nozzle and adjustable pin for precise gas metering
- Easy disassembly for fast maintenance and scalability
- Consistent air/fuel combustion ratio
Materials and constructionThe mixer body and mixing chamber are machined from a single cast piece. The venturi insert is made from Aluminum Anticorodal and is custom calibrated. The nozzle (spud) is brass and fully configurable according to required orifice diameter.
Principle of operationAir flowing through the venturi throat creates a depression that draws gas through the calibrated nozzle. The air/gas mixture then regains pressure in the mixing chamber while flow velocity decreases. Gas quantity is regulated by the pin valve and by changing the interchangeable nozzle to modify internal diameter, enabling accurate metering.
Design criteriaRecommended practice: air inlet pressure ≈ 3.5 × mixer pressure to generate sufficient entrainment energy. Aim for a venturi pressure drop ≥ 66% of the system; tested values show ~71% drop at a 3.5:1 ratio. Maintain about a 2.5:1 ratio between mixer air orifice area and burner exit port area.
InstallationMounting is straightforward: 4 screws per flange secure the mixer. The unit supports symmetric installation and interchangeable gas entry orientation depending on the gas supply. Avoid elbows immediately downstream of the mixer and leave a minimum distance of 5× the pipe diameter between mixer outlet and burner to prevent combustion instability.
MaintenanceDesigned for quick maintenance and calibration: removing the flange screws provides access to the venturi insert, nozzle and valve for inspection, cleaning or replacement.
