Description

General description
Glass Service produces a highly reliable reversal valve for end-port glass furnaces. The unit features a welded steel support frame and a high-thickness cast iron sliding gate designed for high-temperature exhaust and combustion airflow control. It is supplied complete with a supporting structure for direct installation on the chimney.

Main features
  • High-resistance steel support frame
  • Special high-resistance steel guide for the gate
  • High-thickness cast iron sliding gate
  • Vertical gate moved by double metal chain
  • Gate movement driven by electrical servomotor and manual handwheel for emergency operation
  • Pneumatic clutch between handwheel and motor
  • Compressed air tank for emergency procedure in case of air supply failure
  • Two independent side gates to block or allow combustion air or exhaust fumes
  • Inspection doors for easy maintenance and access to tensioning system
  • Four high-temperature resistant inductive position switches (two per stroke end)
  • Two emergency electromechanical end-of-stroke micro-switches
  • Chain mechanism protected by an easy-to-open hinged cover

Functionality
With the gate open, exhaust fumes are routed directly to the chimney. With the gate closed, combustion air supplied by the combustion fan is directed into the regenerator.

Inspection doors
Inspection doors provide direct access to the gate tension regulation system. Tensioning is normally set during commissioning and can be adjusted later by the operator from the inspection doors.

Compressed air tank for emergency clutch
Should the site compressor fail, the integrated compressed air tank supplies the pressurized air necessary to engage the pneumatic clutch and permit manual operation via the handwheel. A check valve prevents pressure loss in the tank when the main line is cut off.

Dimensions and main features
The valve is supplied with a supporting structure sized for chimney installation. Motor and operating data are provided in the technical specifications below.

Technical specifications
  • Electrical motor: 380 Vac, 3ph, 1.5 kW
  • Emergency compressed air supply: 4 bar (clean and dry)
  • Maximum operating temperature: 600 °C
  • Reversal time: 12 s (motor at 50 Hz)
  • Gate material: high-thickness cast iron sliding gate
  • Gate guidance: special high-resistance steel guide
  • Gate actuation: vertical gate moved by double metal chain
  • Actuation drive: electrical servomotor with pneumatic clutch to handwheel for emergency manual operation
  • Safety and control: 4 high-temperature resistant inductive position switches (2 per stroke end) and 2 emergency electromechanical end-of-stroke micro-switches
  • Maintenance access: inspection doors for tension regulation and maintenance
  • Protection: chain mechanism covered by hinged protective cover
  • Additional: supplied with supporting structure for chimney installation; compressed air tank with check valve for emergency clutch operation
