GeneralThe radar glass level is an evolution of the interferometric radar device developed by Glass Service in 2012. The current instrument integrates modern radar electronics and improved computation performance for continuous non-contact level measurement on working ends (WE) and forehearths (FH) of glass furnaces.
Key features- Compact radar antenna: 130×130 mm; antenna housed in a 265×265 mm mechanical support.
- Measuring range from antenna: 300–5000 mm to cover short to long process distances.
- High sampling frequency: 100 Hz for fast monitoring and effective signal filtering aligned with furnace control.
- High reading precision: 0.05 mm for repeatable level control.
- Top-mounted compact antenna reduces measurement errors related to thermal expansion of support structures.
Antenna, mounting and installation- Mounting includes simple mechanical adjustments for antenna positioning and beam orientation.
- Antenna is separated from the combustion chamber by a plate made of a temperature‑resistant ceramic material.
- Recommended light compressed‑air blow to keep the measurement area free of deposits; antenna includes compressed‑air inlet for cooling.
- A small pneumatic panel for compressed‑air management is supplied with the unit.
- No water cooling required for the antenna.
Operation & environmental limits- Ambient operation up to 120 °C; with compressed‑air cooling, installation is possible up to approximately 160 °C.
- Non‑contact radar measurement with no moving parts; lower maintenance demand compared with contact probes or optical emitter/receiver systems.
Measurement & control considerations- 100 Hz sampling enables precise real‑time monitoring and filtering suitable for furnace control loops.
- 0.05 mm reading precision yields high repeatability; stability and precision of the mechanical support must exceed sensor accuracy requirements.
- Compact antenna design reduces thermal deformation effects versus long-span optical systems or long probe assemblies.
Characteristics / spécifications techniques- Antenna size: 130×130 mm.
- Mechanical support footprint: 265×265 mm.
- Measuring range: 300–5000 mm from antenna.
- Sampling frequency: 100 Hz.
- Reading accuracy/precision: 0.05 mm.
- Operation temperature (antenna): up to 120 °C; up to ≈160 °C with compressed‑air cooling.
- Cooling: compressed air (no water cooling required).
- Installation: top mounting on WE or FH with ceramic separation plate; pneumatic panel supplied.
- Design: non‑contact radar measurement, no moving parts, minimal maintenance.
