Description

Overview
The Orthopac RVMC is an optical weft straightener from Mahlo for correction of fabric distortions such as skew and bow. Delivered with hydraulic or electric straightening roller adjustment and a modular mechanical and control concept, it adapts to varied finishing lines. The device integrates precise optical scanning, straightening actuation and process-control functions to monitor and optimise finishing operations.

Product highlights
  • Modular architecture for flexible configuration and retrofit on existing lines
  • Hydraulic or electric roller adjustment options
  • Operator-friendly touchscreen visualisation with configurable software packages (FULL or BASE)
  • Compact integration of straightening and process-control functions

Customer benefits
  • Online monitoring and closed-loop regulation of relevant process parameters
  • Improved productivity and production reliability
  • Consistent process repeatability and automatic quality documentation
  • Traceability and comparative basis for quality standards
  • Potential for energy savings and short payback times

Area of application
  • At the feed end of stenter frames (infeed)
  • At the feed end of levelling stenters
  • On decatisers and ahead of printing machines
  • Between open-width washing machines and drum dryers
  • Ahead of coaters and flame laminators
  • At the feed end of wide compactors for knitgoods

Sensors and measurement options
The Orthopac RVMC is designed to work with a broad range of Mahlo sensors for precise detection and control of distortions and related parameters. Typical sensors and scanning systems used with RVMC solutions include:
  • Scanner TK-12 — optoelectronic scanning (reflex light)
  • Scanner CK-15 — imaging / camera scanning
  • Hybrid scanning — combination of TK (optoelectronic) and CK (camera) scanners
  • Scanner CTK-15 — camera sensor adapted for carpets and technical textiles
  • Patcontrol PCS — pattern detection and pattern-distortion monitoring

Process control functionality
The Orthopac RVMC combines straightening with modular process control. Connected sensors (via bus) and optional Mahlo process-control modules enable measurement, visualisation, control and documentation of parameters such as:
  • Skew (weft/course) and bow (via skew and bow rollers)
  • Pattern repeat and pattern distortion
  • Fabric distortion and residual distortion
  • Thread/course density (over-feed)
  • Exhaust air humidity, fan speed and flap position
  • Surface temperature, web speed and dwell/fixing time
  • Basis weight / over-feed monitoring
  • Residual moisture measurement
  • Stretch / shrinkage and fabric width measurement

Variants
  • Orthopac RMM — mechanical/manual straightener without optical scanning and integrated control (basic mechanical variant)
  • Orthopac RVMC (standard) — optical weft straightener with integrated process control and modular sensor connectivity

Visualization and software
The system includes a touchscreen for display of measured values; visualisation can be adapted by software packages: FMC Full offers complete setting capabilities and full function depth, FMC Base provides essential functions and a compact overview. Additional Mahlo software packages for data logging and visualisation (mLog, mPilot) enable extended documentation and control-room visualisation.

Installations / Typical equipment combinations
Orthopac RVMC systems are commonly combined with peripheral Mahlo equipment in stenter lines and finishing installations, for example MMA drive stations at the infeed, Patcontrol pattern scanners (PCS) for pattern distortion logging, Optipac sensors (VMC) for exhaust-air humidity and dwell time control, and residual moisture sensors (RMS) at the outlet for closed-loop control.

Technical specifications
  • Mechanical straightener: 3 skew rollers, 2 bow rollers (optional 3 bow rollers)
  • Nominal product width (max): 3400 mm
  • Power connection: 3 x 400 VAC ±10 %, 50/60 Hz (transformer station available for special voltages)
  • Power consumption (max): 4 kVA
