Description

Overview
The EDAF2 sinker EDM (electro-discharge machining) machine combines a compact footprint with precise machining capability and advanced thermal management. The design integrates the dielectric reservoir into the base casting and provides active liquid cooling on the Y and Z structures to maintain dimensional stability during long runs.

Design & Operation
The EDAF2 features a stationary worktable with a programmable rise-and-fall work tank for flexible operation. This configuration improves operator access to the tank and simplifies integration of ATC and automation systems for extended unmanned cycles. Optional 50 mm (2.0”) and 100 mm (4.0”) table-down configurations increase tank depth when needed. Built-in process safety includes a standard fire extinguishing system and a U/V flame sensor to monitor machining.

Machining Technology & Control
Makino proprietary generator and adaptive power control technologies deliver controlled energy for consistent surface integrity. Dedicated machining modes — HyperCut, SuperSpark™ IV and ArcFree — address a wide range of EDM applications. The Hyper-i control system provides an intuitive interface for programming, monitoring and productivity optimization.
