OverviewThe EDNC8 is the second machine in the EDNC-Series sinker EDM lineup. It provides larger X/Y/Z strokes and additional processing capacity compared with the EDNC6. The machine is built for reliable high productivity and integrates advanced Makino EDM technologies and a user-friendly control environment.
Control & Productivity Features- Hyper-i control system with an intuitive graphical interface to streamline operations across operator skill levels.
- Integrated EDM Assist (on-board digital manuals and training system) and advanced E‑Tech Doctor help functions to support operators.
- Makino HyperCut and SuperSpark™ IV technologies to increase cutting efficiency and improve productivity.
- Optional ATC (automatic tool changer) to extend unattended operation while allowing full use of the machine stroke and work tank area.
Performance Options- HS-Rib Z-axis option: enables high-speed jump motions up to 20 m/min with up to 1.5 G acceleration; includes integral liquid-core cooling of the ballscrew to maintain precision depth control and can reduce machining times by up to 60% (option-dependent).
- Two work tank configurations: standard and wide-tank to accommodate different part sizes and production needs.
Design & AccessThe EDNC8 uses a stationary worktable and a space-saving design that enhances thermal stability by integrating the dielectric reservoir into the base casting. The machine provides excellent operator access to the work zone for part setup and viewing of operations.

NotesThe standard EDNC8 supports workpiece sizes up to 55.1" x 35.4" (1,400 mm x 900 mm) with a three-sided programmable rise-and-fall work tank. The wide-tank version supports larger parts up to 70.8" x 47.2" (1,800 mm x 1,200 mm) and uses a programmable rise-and-fall front door. Both configurations use the stationary worktable and integrated dielectric reservoir design to improve thermal stability.
