Description

DESCRIPTION
The LT5 system is designed to perform Partial Discharge (PD) measurements on components, windings and finished products (coils, stators, rotors, motors, generators, transformers, etc.). It is intended for all phases of product development and production: design, material and supplier selection, life testing, process selection and optimization, production quality control, quality improvement and cost optimization of products already in production.

APPLICATIONS AND USES
  • Detection of insulation defects to ground and/or between turns not revealed by classic Withstand Voltage tests (Dielectric Strength) and by surge tests.
  • Selection of construction materials (wires, insulations, etc.) and suppliers using PDIV (Partial Discharge Inception Voltage) measurements.
  • Optimization of process machine parameters (e.g., winding speed) to avoid degradation of wire insulation properties.
  • Verification of impregnation processes by measuring the same components before and after impregnation to evaluate effects on insulation.
  • Quantification of the effect of phase separators and impregnation processes on winding insulation quality, useful to define the intended duty class (e.g., inverter operation per EN60034-18-41).
  • Filtering in production of defects not detected by traditional tests, improving EOL (End Of Line) quality control.
  • Monitoring during life tests to identify early permanent insulation degradations.

ADVANTAGES
  • Test system suitable for R&D and quality control.
  • Performs high-voltage tests (AC and impulses) with partial discharge analysis.
  • Laboratory and quality control use enables:
    • selection of components (wires, insulators, phase separators, etc.),
    • identification of permanent insulation degradation during life tests,
    • definition and optimization of production processes (e.g., impregnation parameters),
    • definition of PD threshold limits to set in EOL tests for stators and motors.
