OverviewThe AMT5/W family comprises configurable systems for automatic testing of electric motors in production and laboratory environments. Each solution is developed to customer requirements to ensure repeatable end-of-line and R&D characterisation. Configurations range from manually loaded benches for small batches to partially or fully automated multi-station lines for high throughput.
Primary applications and usesThe AMT5/W is suitable for production end-of-line testing and R&D/laboratory characterisation (ATC320/W version). Delivery formats include single test benches, semi-automatic islands and fully integrated automatic stations according to production needs.
Major system components- AMT320/W computerised control unit: test process management and automation control.
- Active or passive brake: for load and braking tests, including regeneration options.
- Power Supply Unit (PSU320): integrates PDU and DC supply for the DUT inverter and active brake; supports DC feeding of the DUT and regeneration of braking energy to the grid.
Supported motor typesThe AMT320/W supports a broad range of motors: single-phase and three-phase AC, DC (including wiper motors), brushless, geared motors, swing/sliding gate motors, shutter/blind motors and specialised types such as synchronous reluctance motors.
Available testing solutions and functionsThe AMT5/W family performs electrical and functional characterisation. Main tests and measurements include:
- Insulation tests and Partial Discharge measurements
- Safety tests
- No-load tests
- Load tests (with active/passive brake)
- Winding temperature rise tests
- Start-up tests
- Complete motor characterisation (electrical and mechanical)
- Automatic efficiency and loss calculation according to EN 60034-2-1
- BEMF (Back Electromotive Force) measurements with RMS and THD indication
- NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) tests
- Rotation direction and rotation verification
- Hall sensors, resolver and encoder checks
- Blocked (stall) motor tests
- Cogging and friction tests
- Ld and Lq acquisition
Configurations and integration optionsThe AMT5/W is modular and configurable to production requirements. Typical options include:
- Motor power ranges: integrated PSU solutions up to 20 kW or external PSU setups up to 1 MW.
- Bench structure: single benches to multi-station arrangements (two or more stations) and custom fixtures for specific motor types.
- Multi-station solutions: rotary tables and multi-position layouts for high throughput.
- Safety and ergonomics: safety light curtains and operator-optimised layouts to meet industrial safety standards.
- Line integration: stand-alone benches, semi-automated islands or fully automatic stations for direct insertion into production lines.
- Specialised variants: AMT5/WF (fan testing with speed, rotation and vibration checks) and AMT5/WP (pump end-of-line testing: flow, pressure, head, capacity, speed, torque and rotation).
R&D and laboratory optionFor development and laboratory use, Marposs E.D.C. provides the ATC320/W variant designed for detailed characterisation, validation and prototyping of electric motors, enabling in-depth analysis and development activities.
Customisability and supportMarposs E.D.C. develops each AMT5/W system to customer specifications to support repeatable testing in production. Systems are modular to allow upgrades, integration of additional tests and adaptation to product evolution.
