OverviewNexen Group Caliper Brakes are engineered for holding, emergency stop (e-stop) and controlled deceleration in industrial applications. Disc diameters up to 609.6 mm (24 in) provide torque capacity to ~5,649 Nm (50,000 in-lb). Multiple calipers can be mounted on a single disc to increase torque; units accept a range of disc thicknesses and actuator configurations.
Key features- Spring-engaged / air-released and air-engaged / spring-released configurations
- Disc diameters from 254 mm to 609.6 mm (10 to 24 in)
- Adjustable caliper spacing for various disc widths
- Option for detent pins for quick-facing shoe removal
- Simple open design with optional guards and disengagement sensors
- Multiple mounting options: pedestal, foot mount or shaft-mounted disc-hub
Selected models and torque examples- VC500 — Up to 4,861 Nm (43,023 in-lb) with Ø 609.6 mm (24 in); Spring-engaged, air-released; typical release pressure 4.1 bar (60 psi)
- SPC — Up to 5,649 Nm (50,000 in-lb) with Ø 609.6 mm (24 in); Spring-engaged, air-released; typical release pressure 4.8 bar (70 psi)
- BD (spring + actuator) — Up to 2,147 Nm (19,000 in-lb); Spring-engaged, air-released or hydraulically released; release pressure examples 4.1/5.2 bar (60/75 psi) or hydraulic 3.4/17.2 bar (50/250 psi)
- BC-S / BC-A / DBSE — Models ranging ~323 to ~599 Nm depending on disc size; multiple engagement/release methods; typical release pressures 2.8–6.6 bar (40–95 psi)
Additional product notes- Disc clamping force and resulting torque depend on disc diameter, disc-hub and actuator configuration
- Units are available without actuators (actuators sold separately); final torque and engagement/release behavior depend on chosen actuator(s)
- Some models available with straight facings for linear braking and with disengagement sensors
