This large-arm interferometer provides a cost-effective alternative to the interferometer used for classroom demonstrations. Operating equally well with laser and white light, the elevated interferometer allows for the implementation of all the main experiments in the program. The space freed up between the mirrors and the beam splitter also enables experiments and measurements that are difficult to carry out with other types of interferometers.
