Description

The MXPZT-300 series solution switcher utilizes a high-speed piezo flexure guided nanopositioner to move pipette tips in solution switching applications. It is designed to switch theta glass solution streams with respect to the recording electrode at velocities close to the theoretical maximum, enabling typical cellular response curves under 200 microseconds. This makes the system ideal for measuring cellular responses to drugs or other elements in solution.

Operation and Features
  • Piezo movement is triggered by input from standard recording amplifier equipment, allowing control over distance, frequency, and dwell time.
  • The system includes a piezo amplifier box and an Input-Shaping board, which significantly reduces pipette tip vibration and can be re-programmed to virtually eliminate resonances unique to specific configurations.
  • The nanopositioner, offering 250 microns of lateral travel, is mounted on the ultra-stable MX1640 crossed roller micromanipulator, which provides 20mm of travel in all four axes. The fourth axis can be set at any angle for the desired approach and incorporates the MXC-45 for rotation of the piezo/pipette assembly, facilitating easy glass replacement.
  • The base of the MX1640 features a built-in coarse adjustment for rotation of the entire manipulator or can be used with the MX-RS rotation stage for more precise motion.
