Introduction
Grade 43 chain is a high-test steel chain commonly used for mooring, towing and general binder applications. It offers higher tensile strength and working load limit compared with Proof Coil (Grade 30). Binder chains are typically fitted with clevis grab hooks on each end. Grade 43 is not approved for overhead lifting; use only within the published WLL.

Parameter
Grade of chain: NACM (National Association of Chain Manufacturers) & ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) classification; higher grade indicates higher WLL for the same chain size.
Working Load Limit (WLL): Rated capacity — maximum working load in direct tension for an undamaged straight length of chain.
Proof test: Minimum tensile force applied during manufacturing as an integrity test; not to be used for service or design criteria.
Minimum breaking force: Minimum measured breaking load during manufacturing tests; not a design guarantee for service conditions.
Overhead lifting: Lifting that could place a load where falling would cause injury or damage. Grade 43 chains are NOT approved for overhead lifting.
