Description

Product Overview
Grade 80 Tow Chain is a heat-treated alloy steel chain designed for high-strength overhead lifting, towing and tie-down applications. It is the most economical of the chain grades approved for overhead lifting (Grade 80, Grade 100, Grade 120). Manufacturing includes testing throughout production to meet or exceed NACM, ASTM and OSHA specifications. Available in full drums, half drums, cut-by-the-foot lengths and tie-down assemblies; Grade 80 fittings are available.

Features and Benefits
  • Made from heat-treated alloy steel for elevated tensile strength
  • Induction heat treatment optimizes strength and elongation characteristics
  • Finish: black armour coat (electro-galvanized option referenced)
  • Meets or exceeds NACM and ASTM standards; approved for overhead lifting
  • Available in multiple sizes and packaging options

Notes
Grade 80 Tow Chain is also referred to as Grade 8, System 8 or Spectrum 8.

Parameters
Grade of Chain: NACM and ASTM classify chains by grade; higher grade indicates higher working load limit for the same chain size.
Working Load Limit (WLL): Rated capacity that should be applied in direct tension to an undamaged straight length of chain.
Proof Test: Manufacturing test force applied to verify integrity during production; not a service design criterion.
Minimum Breaking Force: Minimum force at which the chain broke during manufacturing testing; not for service design.
Overhead Lifting: Lifting that elevates a freely suspended load to a position where dropping it could cause injury or damage.
