Heat treatments and mechanical properties- LTT (G90): low-temperature tempering below A1 to raise breaking load and hardness at the expense of elongation. Typical hardness ≈ 40–42 HRC (~390 HB). Elongation ≈ 14%.
- QO (G60): quenching only (above AC3) to increase overall hardness; reduced elongation and some loss of breaking load. Typical hardness ≈ 45–47 HRC (~450 HB). Elongation ≈ 10%.
- C‑N (G40): carbonitriding creates a hard surface shell (depth up to ~15% of chain diameter) with very high surface hardness (up to ≈64 HRC / ~800 HV) and a softer core; core relative elongation ≈ 1–3.5%.
