Product DescriptionHeavy duty internal spiral retaining rings have no ears in your assembly. Spiral retaining rings are manufactured by coiling the ring from flat wire. This process produces a retaining ring that has no protruding ears or burrs to interfere with your assembly and generates no scrap, allowing economical production in carbon steel, stainless steel, copper and many other alloys.
Description / Key PointsNo gap – 360° retaining surface.
No protruding ears interfere with mating components (uniform cross-section).
Economically produced in stainless steel because the coiling process produces no scrap.
No charge on custom designs.
Easy installation and removal.
Heavy duty internal spiral retaining rings can be made of a variety of materials, including carbon spring steel, alloy spring steel (65Mn), stainless steel (304, 316, 17-7PH), beryllium bronze, superalloys and other metals.
Installation methodPry off one end of the retaining ring by hand and insert it into the groove; press and twist the retaining ring around the periphery of the groove until the retaining ring is fully wound into the groove. For disassembly, insert a blunt instrument into the removable groove to pry the free end radially upward, or insert a screwdriver or dental pliers behind the removable slot and pry up the end; rotate the ring around the perimeter by hand until it disengages from the slot.
Advantages- The structure is simple, compact and low cost; suitable for compact device design and reduces part count.
- Multi-point contact ensures high cooperation, large current carrying capacity and good electrical and thermal stability.
- Individual contact pressure is low, providing good wear resistance.
- Wide application range and greater adaptability to machining and assembly errors.
