Description

Product overview
A hydraulic drum cutter mills weathered rock, mudstone and argillaceous sandstone with low vibration and low noise, producing neat surfaces and millings suitable for direct trench backfill. Compared with traditional hydraulic breakers it can cut 3–5× faster on these materials and grinds waste into 10–50 mm particles.

Drive & power options
Drive systems include chain drive and hydraulic direct-drive for light carriers, and gear-driven twin-motor designs for heavy mining applications. Twin-motor gear drives deliver very high torque (examples up to ~111,300 N·m) for milling tough rock.

Selection guidance
Match the drum cutter to carrier (excavator) weight, maximum auxiliary hydraulic flow and rated pressure. Verify auxiliary line flow and return-line backpressure on site before matching: insufficient flow limits rotation speed and high backpressure quickly overheats hydraulic motors and seals.

Model comparison
Model | Carrier Weight (T) | Rated Flow (L/min) | Rated Pressure (MPa) | Max Torque (N.m) | Pick Teeth (pcs)
YG-140 | 3 – 8 T | 40 L/min | 28 MPa | 3,000 N.m | 22 – 44 pcs
YG-210S | 18 – 25 T | 268 L/min | 28 MPa | 9,000 N.m | 44 – 68 pcs
YG-350 | 30 – 50 T | 580 L/min | 30 MPa | 23,500 N.m | 76 pcs
YG-800 | 80 – 120 T | 1,800 L/min | 35 MPa | 111,300 N.m | 84 pcs

Recommended site workflow
For rock sorting and immediate backfill, pair the drum cutter with a screening bucket to separate fines. Add a crusher bucket for large boulders. For foundation demolition combine with a pile breaker or hydraulic concrete pulverizer to remove columns, crush slabs and shear rebar.

Where operators use a drum cutter
  • Tunneling and deep-pit trenching: shape tunnel profiles, clean overbreak and roughen surfaces while minimizing substrate cracking.
  • Utility trenching and pipe jacking: cut narrow trenches with smooth vertical walls and produce fine aggregate suitable for pipe backfilling.
  • Underwater cutting and demolition: trim underwater piles and interior walls without high-vibration destruction.
  • Specialized quarrying and forestry: shave quarry corners, grind stumps and level steep slopes where standard buckets fail.

Operator notes & FAQs (selected)
  • Tooth life depends on rock hardness and abrasiveness: picks typically last ~200–300 h in soft shale/mudstone and 50–80 h in highly abrasive sandstone; heavy-duty carbide tips extend life.
  • Hydraulic cutters require continuous high oil flow and very low return backpressure; low flow limits rotation speed and high backpressure damages motor seals.
  • Milled particles are typically 10–50 mm, meeting standard trench backfill requirements without extra crushing in many cases.
