Overview ZAbluefin is a next-generation centrifugal impeller designed for high-efficiency, low-noise industrial and HVAC applications. It is available in ZAmid® high-performance composite, aluminium and sheet-steel versions. The impeller integrates a biomimetic 3D blade geometry with a biomimetic leading edge and a V-shaped serrated trailing edge to optimise flow and reduce sound radiation.

Key product highlights The ZAbluefin is a free-running centrifugal impeller with five backward-curved blades. It delivers improved system efficiency (up to +7% vs previous designs), reduced sound power and diffuse radiation. A broad range of sizes and motor integration concepts make it suitable for many industrial ventilation and process uses. ATEX / IECEx certified explosion-protected versions are available.

Design & acoustics Biomimetic 3D profiling, twisted blade geometry and a corrugated blade surface improve flow uniformity and promote diffuse sound radiation, resulting in lower perceived noise and better acoustic performance in ducted and free-blowing installations.

Versions

• ZAbluefin in ZAmid® — high-performance composite impeller combining advanced material and blade concept for maximum efficiency and reduced sound power.
• ZAbluefin in aluminium — aluminium impeller suited to applications with hygiene or fire-protection requirements, offering high system efficiency and favourable acoustics.
• ZAbluefin in steel — sheet-steel impeller with powder-coated surface protection, available in large diameters for high airflows.

• External rotor motors: ECblue (energy efficiency class IE5)
• Internal rotor motors: PMblue (permanent‑magnet motor with integrated controller), AC technology (IE3 / IE4), AMblue (asynchronous motor with integrated controller)

Applications Suitable for HVAC (air handling units), data centres, electronics cooling, compressors, container ventilation, marine installations and wind energy systems where high efficiency and low noise are required.

Explosion-protected versions Special ZAbluefin versions for potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX / IECEx) are offered. Features include electrically conductive powder-coating (black RAL 9005), availability as ER module (installation position H only), specific temperature and equipment group ratings, approvals for Zone 1/2 and motor protections Ex db / Ex db eb. Typical ratings: temperature class T4, equipment group IIB, EPL Gb / Gc; suitable ambient temperatures and impeller temperature limits per certification.
