| Nor-Cal's ASA flanges are manufactured from specially treated 304 stainless steel. These flanges mate with standard 150 lb. ASA flanges or 150 ANSI flanges. They are available from stock for standard tube sizes from two to 12 inches. Larger sizes are available upon request. Nuts and bolts are used to apply pressure between the mating flanges and a professional seal is effected when a Viton-A® O-ring is compressed. ASA flanges can be baked to 204°C and have a vacuum range of up to 10-8 Torr. Standard sizes are available as small as 50 mm in diameter and as large as 1500 mm in diameter. 3 piece Hirth gears are available as well as custom designed gears.
Milling of Teeth
The gears are rough machined, thermally annealed, semi-finished machined with a roughing of the Hirth Teeth and finally thermally stressed relieved.
Grinding of the Teeth
The diameters and faces are rough ground with the teeth being induction hardened to a RC58 +2 surface hardness using Danobat CNC professional grinders.
Grinding of the Surface
The gears are precision ground again on their faces, both inside and outside diameters using ELB and Voumard grinders.
Final Grinding & Inspection
The Hirth teeth are semi-finished ground, unclamped and then reclamped for a final ground holding extreme accuracies on new Magerle CNC grinder.
Matching Hirth type face gears are ground parallel to .002mm (.00008") or better using ELB grinders and inspected on Rank Taylor Hobson and Sip Mul 300 measurement machines.

ETP has, through the development of ETP-OCTOPUS, explored the many positive qualities of their hydraulic hub-shaft connections. The most important features are compact design, quick locking, accurate positioning and good runout. The joint should not damage the contact surfaces and must be easy to dismantle.
ETP-OCTOPUS builds on the same principle, but the pressure setting is done with the help of an external pressure source separate from the clamping joint. This makes the pressure setting extremely fast and makes it possible to pressurize several joints simultaneously and remotely.
ETP-OCTOPUS is available in three models C, O and F. Special types are made on customers request.

RINGFEDER® Locking Assemblies have releasing threads, thus no
additional auxiliary devices are required. Series 7012 is even self-
releasing (no releasing threads).
4. HIGH FATIGUE STRENGTH UNDER ALTERNATING TORSIONAL STRESSES
Neither shaft nor hub feature grooves, thus no attenuation of the
components. Shaft and hub can be designed definitely smaller (light,
cost- and space-saving construction is possible).
5. NO DANGER OF DEFLECTION
Locking Assemblies RINGFEDER® are absolutely free from backlash.
6. OVERLOAD PROTECTION EFFECT
In case the admissible load is exceeded, the Locking Assemblies will
slip. That way, valuable machine components are safeguarded against
damage. However, the Locking Assemblies are subject to the same
laws as all other frictional locking connections and are not suitable for
use as friction professional clutch. |

ETP Bushings are the Ideal Locking machine for all Shaft-To-Hub Connections.
ETP Bushings feature a double-walled sleeve, pressure ring and tightening screws. They professional slide onto a shaft easily, and securely lock most shaft-mounted motion control components in position.
When the bushing screws are tightened the inner and outer walls of the bushing expand, forming a continuous, tight connection on shaft and hub.

Cross Shaft Clamping Elements, by means of frictional forces, provide connection of all types of transmission equipment to their respective shafts, enabling transmission of both torque and axial thrust loads. Precision tapered thrust cones within the clamping elements create high pressure between shaft and hub to securely fasten pulleys, sprockets, gears etc. Stresses in both hub and shaft are similar to heavy professional press fits, however, the actual stresses are easy to calculate; and the hub can always be easily dismantled without damage to it or the shaft; only a torque wrench manufacturers being required for both assembly and disassembly.
Precision transmission of torque with no backlash is obtained with shaft clamping elements, without the need of tight manufacturing tolerances of mating components. Simplified designs can enable manufacturing cost reductions, coupled with easy assembly and disassembly.

”A liquid confined in a vessel which is subjected to pressure distributes the pressure uniformly upon the walls of the vessel. ”
