A flexible coupling is a mechanism designed to transfer power (torque and speed) between two rotating shafts, the drive and the driven shaft. Since alignment of the two is rarely perfect, a flexible coupling may be used to compensate. Such a mechanism can be rigid or flexible.

The most common sorts of flexible coupling are elastomer, jaw, spring, rubber tire and buffer.
