OverviewProduce nitrogen on-site directly from compressed air. The NITROBERG® product family comprises 18 models covering eight purity grades from 97% to 99.999% and output capacities from 1.2 to 1,709.1 Nm³/h. Systems are engineered and manufactured in Germany and are conformity assessed under PED 2014/68/EU (NB 2912).
How it worksOn-site nitrogen generation separates nitrogen from ambient air using the customer's compressed air as feed. Two common separation technologies are Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) and hollow-fibre membrane systems. NITROBERG® generators use PSA across the full 97%–99.999% purity range. In PSA systems, compressed air passes through carbon molecular sieves that adsorb oxygen preferentially; alternating adsorber vessels and a depressurisation/regeneration cycle provide continuous nitrogen output. PSA reaches purities up to 99.999%, while membrane systems are typically limited to around 99%.
Key features- Adjustable Purity Control: Dial in purity between 97% and 99.999% to meet specific process needs, including ultra-high purity applications.
- Flexible Flow Capacity: Models range from compact units producing 1.2 Nm³/h to large industrial systems producing up to 1,709.1 Nm³/h.
- Pressure Optimisation: Designed for operating pressures in the 5–10 bar range to ensure suitability for diverse industrial applications.
- Custom Engineering: Systems are configurable to customer specifications for purity, flow, pressure, footprint and integration.
- Standard Wear Parts: Wear parts are off-the-shelf components to avoid proprietary lock-in and reduce lifecycle cost uncertainty.
- Certifications: PED 2014/68/EU conformity assessed (Modules B + D), Notified Body NB 2912.
Business benefits and typical use casesOn-site generation replaces deliveries of cylinders or liquid nitrogen, delivering predictable operating costs tied to electricity and compressed air. Typical benefits: reduced supply costs (typical ROI vs. liquid-gas delivery in two to three years for continuous/high-volume use), elimination of supply-chain risk, stable purity and pressure at point of use, smaller footprint compared to bulk storage. Typical industries served include food & beverage, food packaging, pharmaceutical, laboratory & mass spectrometry, chemical, laser cutting, plastics & packaging, electronics & soldering, oil & gas, maritime and others.
