Description

Overview
BERG GaseTech NITROBERG® on-site nitrogen generators provide nitrogen for tanker inert-gas systems (IGS), cargo blanketing and pipeline purging, aligned with IMO safety requirements. Systems are based on Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology, manufactured in Germany, designed for continuous 24/7 supply, high energy efficiency and low maintenance. They separate nitrogen from compressed air and include core components such as an air separation module and a heat exchanger.

Key features & advantages
  • Enhanced safety: creates an inert atmosphere by replacing oxygen in fuel tanks and cargo holds to reduce risk of combustion and explosions.
  • Cost savings: avoids purchase and transport of delivered nitrogen (predictable kWh-based OPEX).
  • Cargo preservation: protects food, pharmaceuticals and electronics by maintaining low-oxygen environments to reduce spoilage and extend shelf life.
  • Operational flexibility: configurable purity levels and output capacities to match vessel type, cargo and voyage profile.
  • Compliance & reliability: IMO-aligned solutions for inerting, blanketing and purging.
  • Made in Germany: engineered and manufactured to European standards.

Applications
  • Gas carriers — inerting and blanketing of fuel tanks.
  • Chemical tankers — cargo hold purging and inerting to prevent reactions with oxygen.
  • Retrofit use — preventing corrosion in ballast tanks by lowering oxygen levels.
  • Offshore platforms — pipeline purging, pressure testing and maintenance operations.

Technical data & operational notes
Systems are sized according to required N2 purity, consumption profile and operating hours. PSA technology separates nitrogen from compressed air and delivers a continuous on-board supply suitable for marine and offshore environments. Typical design goals focus on optimal energy consumption, minimal maintenance and configurable delivery pressures for application-specific needs.

Technical specifications
  • N₂ purity (typical range): 95–99.5% (operational range) and up to 99.999% at point of use (stated capability).
  • Continuous supply: designed for 24/7 operation.
  • Technology: Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) nitrogen generation.
  • Components: air separation module and heat exchanger included in system design.
  • Sizing: configurable by N₂ purity requirement, flow/consumption profile and operating hours; multiple capacities and configurations available.
  • Performance goals: energy-efficient operation and low maintenance (predictable kWh-based OPEX).
  • Compliance: IMO-aligned for maritime inerting, blanketing and purging applications.
  • Manufacturing origin: Made in Germany.
