Description

Overview
OXYBERG® produces oxygen on site from compressed air at user-selected purity (typically 90–95 %) to cover base aeration, peak-load events and to serve collection systems or ozone generators. Sizing should be based on process load and transfer system performance rather than brochure nominal values.

Uses in wastewater treatment
  • Aeration: oxygen supplements or replaces blower air in the biological stage.
  • Peak-load cover: handles industrial discharges, storm events or seasonal swings when installed aeration is insufficient.
  • Collection system aeration: injection into rising mains and pumping stations to maintain aerobic conditions and prevent H₂S formation.
  • Ozone feed gas: dry, oil-free oxygen for ozone generators used in COD and micropollutant reduction.

Key process points
The useful sizing order runs from load → transfer system → generator output. Important factors are:
  • Purity at the generator: defines available O₂ but is often secondary to transfer efficiency.
  • Transfer system: diffuser type, submergence, bubble size and basin geometry determine how much offered oxygen dissolves.
  • Load and temperature: peaks use dissolved oxygen faster; warm water holds less O₂.
  • Control: dissolved oxygen controllers maintain setpoints but cannot exceed what the transfer system and generator deliver.

Purity vs use (example: OXYBERG® 1500)
90 % | Aeration, peak-load cover, collection system | 44.6 Nm³/h
92 % | Aeration with tighter specification | 43.1 Nm³/h
93 % | Aeration and general plant use | 41.6 Nm³/h
94 % | When a downstream process requires it | 40.5 Nm³/h
95 % | Top of the OXYBERG® range | 39.1 Nm³/h

Models and example outputs
OXYBERG® 500 — O₂ at 90 %: 2.1 Nm³/h; O₂ at 93 %: 1.7 Nm³/h; compressed air at 90 %: 23.1 Nm³/h
OXYBERG® 900 — O₂ at 90 %: 9.2 Nm³/h; O₂ at 93 %: 8.2 Nm³/h; compressed air at 90 %: 101.2 Nm³/h
OXYBERG® 1200 — O₂ at 90 %: 18.9 Nm³/h; O₂ at 93 %: 17.4 Nm³/h; compressed air at 90 %: 207.9 Nm³/h
OXYBERG® 1500 — O₂ at 90 %: 44.6 Nm³/h; O₂ at 93 %: 41.6 Nm³/h; compressed air at 90 %: 490.6 Nm³/h
OXYBERG® 1700 — O₂ at 90 %: 65.8 Nm³/h; O₂ at 93 %: 62.1 Nm³/h; compressed air at 90 %: 723.8 Nm³/h
OXYBERG® 2000 — O₂ at 90 %: 131.6 Nm³/h; O₂ at 93 %: 124.2 Nm³/h; compressed air at 90 %: 1447.6 Nm³/h
OXYBERG® 4000 — O₂ at 90 %: 197.4 Nm³/h; O₂ at 93 %: 186.3 Nm³/h; compressed air at 90 %: 2171.4 Nm³/h

Ozone generation notes
Ozone stages require clean, dry oxygen as feed gas. Feeding air reduces ozone yield and produces nitrogen oxides. Purity and dew point requirements of the ozone generator must be matched when sizing the oxygen supply.

Site requirements and installation
Operating pressure: 10 bar
Compressed air inlet pressure: 7 bar(g)
Compressed air quality: ISO 8573-1:2010 Class 1.4.1
Sound level: 55–78 dB(A)
Ambient temperature: +5 °C to +40 °C

Buffer vessel and system integration
A buffer vessel is recommended to absorb short demand fluctuations so the generator need not be sized for transient spikes. Where on-site compressed air is unavailable, supply is engineered as a complete plant (compressor station, air treatment, buffer, generator, storage) delivered as one package.

Manufacturing, service and warranty
Generators are engineered and built in Germany. Wear parts are standard components. Standard warranty: 3 years; up to 5 years with a service contract.
