Description

Product overview
The FNC+ is a 3-jaw wedge-style power chuck with a standard quick-change jaw system. It is designed for higher spindle RPM capability, faster jaw travel, reduced chuck body weight and improved rigidity. The chuck accepts European standard top tooling and provides a wide gripping range for stock variation. Manufactured from high-grade material with a nitrided one-piece body and produced to ISO 9001:2000.

Key improvements / new features
  • Straight or angled base jaw serration options (straight base accepts many competitors' base jaws; angled base accepts legacy Forkardt FNC base jaws).
  • Enlarged bore to meet or exceed common machine bores and maximize bar feed capability.
  • Six mounting bolts (instead of three) to increase spindle mounting rigidity.

Functionality & design highlights
The patented trapezoidal wedge-hook actuation provides efficient transfer of high gripping forces while maintaining accuracy at elevated speeds. Reduced body weight and lower overall height allow higher allowable RPMs and increased usable work envelope. The shorter stroke of the central actuator yields faster jaw travel times versus most other quick-change jaw chucks. Multiple mounting adapters ensure compatibility with common machine spindles.

Advantages
  • Very fast jaw changeover (a few seconds) to improve production efficiency.
  • Wide range of mounting accessories to fit many machine spindles.
  • Nitrided, one-piece chuck body for high rigidity and long service life.
  • Maintained concentricity and high repeatability.
  • Very high gripping forces from heavy-duty trapezoidal wedge-hook actuation.

Technical features
  • Revised base jaw profile to accept competitive base jaws.
  • More compact design and reduced chuck mass for higher RPM capability and longer usable part lengths.
  • Piston safety device for safe vertical spindle mounting and controlled jaw unlocking/adjustment.
  • Standard availability with angled or straight tooth base jaws; straight tooth model compatible with competitive base jaws.
  • Six-bolt spindle mount for added rigidity.

Applications
  • Medium and small batch production where fast jaw changes and higher spindle speeds are required.

Documentation
Operating instructions and a product brochure are available for the FNC+ (see product literature).
