Overview
Compact vertical machining center designed for high-volume part production. The Slim3n APC from Makino integrates an integral pallet changer (APC) enabling simultaneous setup on one pallet while machining on the other to reduce setup time and increase throughput.

Design and Performance
FEA-optimized closed-frame structure with long supporting columns provides high rigidity and torsional stiffness for consistent machining accuracy. Makino spindle technology emphasizes rigidity, constant preload, multi-plane balancing and reduced thermal growth to minimize vibration. Two spindle options are available: 16,000 rpm (standard) and 8,000 rpm (optional). The standard HSK-A50 taper supports a wide range of tooling.

Configuration for Production
The machine features a 26-tool ATC with armless direct tool pick and an integral door design for reliable, fast tool changes. Coolant options include nozzle and flush coolant; the bed is sloped for efficient chip evacuation. A rear Lift Up Chip Conveyor is available for high chip volumes. Rapid traverse and cutting feed capabilities support high-speed production cycles.
