Description

Overview
The SLS 201 inverted pantograph is installed on the infrastructure side at a central location (e.g. depot or route-side station). Contacting follows the Top-Down principle: the vehicle parks beneath the inverted pantograph, the pantograph moves down to engage the counterpart on the vehicle roof and charges the batteries. The system is designed for flexible, fast and safe charging of e-buses and battery-powered industrial vehicles. Patented contact modules can be adapted to other vehicle types and specific customer requirements.

Key charging data
Charging time: from 30 seconds to overnight charge
Charging power: up to 600 kW
Set-up principle: Top-Down (infrastructure-side inverted pantograph)
Charging concepts: Opportunity Charging, Flash Charging and Depot Charging

Performance and safety
The system ensures safe current transmission up to 1,000 A via a multipole concept and enforces a defined contact sequence during engagement. The drive unit is rated for a very high cycle count (> 400,000 cycles) and enables contacting within approximately five seconds. A combination of spring and drive maintains a constant contact force across the pantograph working range. An integrated fail-safe returns the pantograph to the rest position automatically in case of power loss or fault.

Operating range
The half-scissor design allows charging of different vehicle types at a single stop or station, including conventional and double-decker buses (maximum deflection approx. 2.3 m). The inverted pantograph compensates for vehicle movements during recharging.

Interfaces
INVESA interfaces enable straightforward adaptation to existing systems and provide high power transmission with a flat counter-contact on the vehicle roof.
  • 4-pole system
  • Constant contact force distribution across all contacts
  • Compensation of vehicle movements during reloading (up to 5° including kneeling on some interfaces)

Applications
Built for depot integration and route-side charging where fast, repeatable and reliable contact cycles are required. Adaptable contact modules and multiple interface types (current rail, cover interface, funnel interface) allow installation in constrained roof spaces or on special vehicles.
