The e clip is an external retaining ring that snaps into a machined groove on a shaft or pin. Once seated in the groove the three prongs of the clip bear against the shaft and the shoulder of the component to prevent axial movement. This creates a quick mechanical stop that can be removed and refitted for maintenance without damaging the shaft or the clip. How to install an E-clip 1. Confirm the shaft diameter and the correct DIN 6799 size of clip. 2. Ensure a clean groove with no burrs then lightly oil if required. 3. Position the open side of the E-clip over the groove with the centre tang aligned to the groove.
