Description

E Clips which are also known as E Rings are another type of retaining ring we offer. With a unique shape, like the other type of retaining clips they fit onto shafts to retain components from moving, but are made for specific groove types. Our E-Clips are available in A1 (Equivalent to 303) and A4 (Equivalent to 316 Marine Grade) Stainless Steel in sizes 1.2mm to 24mm. For our full selection of sizes and materials see the product table displayed below, or get in touch with a member of our staff. Key Product Features: Manufactured from a high strength Stainless Steel Easy to install and use Commonly Used For: Retaining Shafts Gearboxes Motors Also Refered to As: E-Type Clips E Type Clips Retaining Washer for Shafts Circlip E-Type E Type Circlips Locking Washer Equivalent Standards: DIN 6799 (Germany, Deutsches Institut für Normung) UNI 7434 (Italy, Ente Italiano di Normazione) CSN 022929 (Czech technical standard) PN 85112 (Poland, Polski Komitet Normalizacyjn) How do E-clips work? The e clip is an external retaining ring that snaps into a machined groove on a shaft or pin. Once seated in the groove the three prongs of the clip bear against the shaft and the shoulder of the component to prevent axial movement. This creates a quick mechanical stop that can be removed and refitted for maintenance without damaging the shaft or the clip. How to install an E-clip 1. Confirm the shaft diameter and the correct DIN 6799 size of clip. 2. Ensure a clean groove with no burrs then lightly oil if required. 3. Position the open side of the E-clip over the groove with the centre tang aligned to the groove.
