How It WorksCurrent through the coil generates a magnetic field that interacts with the rotor geometry (slots, helical grooves or shaped armature) to produce rotary motion. A spring or gravity return (or other mechanical return) repositions the rotor when power is removed. Certain designs include shaped armature features to achieve precise angular indexing.
