Thimble-type ceramic heaters are designed for automotive oxygen sensors used in electronic fuel injection engine control systems. The heater component enables faster warm-up of the sensor element to reduce cold-start emissions and ensure accurate air–fuel ratio monitoring.

Additional information
Thimble-type oxygen sensor heaters are manufactured with 1, 2, 3 or 4 wire configurations depending on design requirements. Due to emissions regulations, modern vehicles typically use sensors with an internal heater (commonly 4-wire). The thimble heater reaches operating condition approximately 40 seconds after ignition under typical conditions.
