The King Brinell tester has been the world wide leader for over 60 years. King Brinell hardness testers are lightweight, easy to maneuver and require only one operator which make them ideal for use as portable or bench units.
The King Brinell is designed to make impressions that are used to measure the hardness of metal. The King® Brinell Hardness Tester is a precision instrument which serves a dual purpose. It can be used as a bench-type tester or taken to the job site in almost any location. This dual role enables most users to save a considerable amount of money with their investment with this highly versatile hardness tester. The King Brinell Tester is lightweight and it requires only one person to operate. It is 100 percent reliable with precision accuracy in the field regardless of what challenging environment you may be testing in.
The King Potable Brinell Tester is versatile enough to test virtually any size and shape metal specimen but most importantly this Brinell tester is easy-to-use. The operator simply places the specimen between the anvil and the test head, cranks the test head down onto the specimen, locking the tester in place, closes the pressure release valve, and pulls the hydraulic lever until desired load is reached. The tester applies up to a 3000 kg load on a 10 mm ball, making a lasting impression, which is available for re-reading at any time. A by-pass valve is automatically activated at the calibrated load, eliminating the chance of overloading.

The EQUOSTAT Portable Hardness Tester is a light weight, yet powerful portable hardness tester for all metallic materials.
Applications of the EQUOSTAT Portable Hardness Tester include scratch sensitive polished surfaces, hardness of the heat affected zone in weldments, sheet and coiled metals, and pieces as thin as 0.008".
The EQUOSTAT measures in a similar fashion to the Rockwell principle where penetration depth under a defined load force is measured before and after application of a larger force, i.e. the plastic deformation and, therefore, the hardness.
The EQUOSTAT then displays both the native HRZ and converted values for Rockwell, Vickers and Brinell on a large LCD display.
Mobile and accurate, the EQUOSTAT has a large measuring range - from soft to extremely hard and gives measurements in seconds.
Internal data storage of ~6,000 readings and RS-232C interface make the EQUOSTAT a powerful quality tool.

Zwick's hardness testers for optical measurement methods cover different load ranges and offer specifications in different stages of ease of use. Now the most suitable tester is available for each type of application.
Hardness Testing Machine ZHV20/Z2.5
A single solution: This hardness testing machine enables tests according to Vickers, Brinell or Knoop. It has been built by combining the hardness test device for optical methods with a zwicki test machine. The built-in load cell permits test loads between 2 and 200 N to be applied electromechanically. The CCD camera is placed on a microscope angled at 90°. Lenses and mounting unit(s) for the indentor(s) are integrated in the revolver head so that position change between setting and measuring the indentation takes place by rotating the revolver. The revolver head is equipped with four stations, i.e. two indentors and two objective lenses can also be combined.
A testXpert® master test program includes standard tests according to Vickers, Knoop, and Brinell. Add-ons are optionally available for automatic indentation measurement and focusing as well as for hardness sequence tests with manual or motorized compound tables.

ZHU2.5/Z2.5 : The most Universal Hardness Tester of the World
The ZHU2.5/Z2.5 is the most versatile all-round hardness tester the world has ever seen. It is based on a materials testing machine type "zwicki": Simply mount the hardness measurement head. The hardness measurement head is constructed so that it can be used with all Zwick materials testing machines, and for automation. Equipped with other tools or grips, this modular test system is also suitable for tensile, compression and flexure tests.
testXpert® is also utilized as the test software. A cost-optimized supplement has been developed solely for optical hardness test methods.
Integrated in the hardness measurement head are a digital travel measurement system, a load cell and an
interchangeable indentor with measurement transducer.
On the whole the hardness measurement head encompasses all hardness tests with indentation depth measurement, e.g. Universal Hardness HU macro range or Martens hardness HM, Rockwell hardness, ball indentation hardness H, Vickers depth measurement HVT, and Brinell depth measurement HBT.

Introduced in 1965, the WESTport Rex Model 1700 was designed to enable the user to observe and measure the "creep" present in a specimen. Creep refers to the tendency of the durometer indentor to continue to penetrate a specimen over time, giving lower durometer readings. For example, if the durometer is held against a specimen in full contact and with constant pressure; the durometer reading will decrease over a period of seconds after the initial reading is taken. In a specimen with creep, the initial reading may be 35.0 durometer points while the reading after three seconds may be 33.5 durometer points. The Model 1700 features a max- hand and an active hand so that creep may be observed. The max hand holds the maximum reading while the active hand can be observed creeping down the scale. The 1700 is equipped with a max-hand reset button on the top left of the gauge.
